1920s French Floral Micro Beaded Drawstring Purse

An exquisite original 1920s French micro beaded drawstring purse, entirely hand crafted from thousands of tiny glass seed beads. Softly gathered at the top with braided drawstrings and finished with a delicate beaded tassel, it is a beautiful example of the exceptional craftsmanship that characterised the finest accessories of the Jazz Age.

Set against a dramatic black ground, the purse is decorated with richly shaded pink roses framed by fresh green foliage, while delicate floral borders adorn both the upper edge and rounded base. The purse is completely unlined, allowing the remarkable hand-beaded mesh construction to be appreciated from both inside and out. Despite being over a century old, it remains wonderfully supple, draping beautifully when carried.

An increasingly scarce and highly collectible original 1920s handbag, perfect for evening wear, bridal styling, or as part of an antique fashion collection.

Condition

Good wearable antique condition. The beadwork remains beautifully intact overall, and the purse is structurally sound. There are some small holes to the beadwork near the upper edge, as shown in the photographs. These do not affect the stability or functionality of the purse and have been carefully reflected in the price.
