Antique 1920s Chartreuse Silk Lingerie Slip with Lace

An original 1920s silk lingerie slip in an incredible acid chartreuse, finished with delicate antique lace and carrying a wonderfully imperfect patina from approximately a century of wear.

Made from beautifully lightweight, fluid silk, the slip has a simple straight-to-gently-flared 1920s silhouette with fine shoulder straps. Scalloped floral lace runs across the neckline in pointed panels, while larger lace inserts open through the lower portion of the garment and continue around the hem.

The colour is particularly special: a vivid chartreuse yellow-green with considerable tonal variation throughout. The dye appears uneven and hand-worked, creating areas that shift from almost lemon yellow to deeper greenish chartreuse. Together with the darker markings and accumulated wear, it gives the silk an extraordinary distressed quality that feels surprisingly contemporary.

This is very much an antique piece with a visible history rather than pristine archival lingerie. For us, that patina is a huge part of its appeal — the kind of irregular colour, fading and surface character that would be almost impossible to reproduce convincingly in a modern garment.

There is significant variation and patchiness to the colour, along with darker, almost ink-like staining beneath the arms and other general marks and signs of age throughout. The fine shoulder straps have been repaired and may benefit from replacement in the future. There is additional general wear consistent with the age and delicacy of the silk and lace. The original straps have been replaced.

Despite its visibly worn condition, there are no major holes or tears noted, and the piece remains wearable with appropriate care. Please purchase expecting an approximately century-old garment with repairs, staining, colour variation and patina rather than a piece in pristine condition.
