1920s Blush Pink Rayon Lingerie Slip with Lace Inserts

An original 1920s lingerie slip in the prettiest soft blush pink, made from wonderfully fluid rayon with delicate antique lace inserts.

The cut is beautifully simple and very characteristic of the period: a loose, almost trapeze-shaped body falling away from the bust into a gently flared hem. A large triangular panel of fine floral lace forms the centre front, with further lace inserts set into the lower skirt to create additional movement and volume.

The rayon is exceptionally soft, slinky and silky to the touch, with a subtle lustre and beautiful fluid drape. Although it has the appearance and feel of silk, the fabric is rayon rather than silk.

Now around a century old, this is a wonderfully romantic piece of original 1920s lingerie that remains wearable with appropriate care. Beautiful styled as a very short slip dress, layered over lingerie, or worn beneath an open robe, jacket or antique cape.

This piece has clearly been loved and worn throughout its long life. There are historic repairs, including a visible repair to the front, areas of thinning and fraying to the delicate rayon, and general age-related wear throughout.

Despite this, it remains wearable: there are no major open tears or structural damage that currently prevent it from being worn. The fabric is, however, approximately a century old and delicate, so it should be worn and handled with care.
