1930s Butter Yellow Silk and Lace Lingerie Dress/ Nightgown

A beautiful late 1930s silk nightgown from France in the softest buttery yellow tone, with an ethereal drape and delicate ivory lace detailing across the neckline, shoulders and back. The neckline is really the highlight here — a romantic scalloped lace yoke with tiny covered buttons and gentle gathering beneath, creating that dreamy fluid silhouette so characteristic of post-war lingerie pieces, and the best bit is that it can fit a variety of sizes. 

Cut in a soft flowing silk with subtle pleating beneath the bust, giving the piece movement and ease while still softly skimming the body. Though originally intended as a nightgown, pieces like this translate beautifully into modern wear — styled loose and romantic, or belted at the waist for a more defined silhouette. In the photos it has been styled with a ribbon tied at the waist as an example; ribbon not included.

Condition:

Excellent vintage condition overall. Some tiny pinhead-sized black (ink?) at the front which are so small and scattered they are not noticeble. See last pictures. There also appears to be some extremely faint historical water marking visible at certain angles/light on the back, but this is very subtle and difficult to detect unless closely inspected in specific lighting.
