1930s Semi-Sheer Crinkled Rayon Taffeta Party Dress

A wonderfully romantic authentic 1930s party dress in the softest pale primrose yellow with an all-over scattered floral print in shades of poppy red, cornflower blue and soft golden yellow.

 This piece is made in an incredibly special lightweight semi-sheer crinkled rayon taffeta with a softly crisp hand and beautiful texture throughout. The fabric holds the dramatic silhouette beautifully while still remaining airy and light in movement.

 The silhouette is quintessentially 1930s — fitted through the waist with sculptural puff sleeves, delicate ruffle detailing and a fluid layered skirt with asymmetrical cascading panels that move beautifully while walking. The neckline is softly squared with gathered detailing around the collar, while the skirt falls into floating ruffled layers that create wonderful movement and volume.

 Though delicate and feminine, the silhouette still feels surprisingly modern and wearable today — equally beautiful styled with simple flats for daytime or dressed up as an evening or occasion piece.

 Fastens at the side with press studs and hook-and-eye closures.

 Condition:
Very good wearable vintage condition with normal signs of age and wear consistent with delicate 1930s fabrics. There has been one repair to a tear at the shoulder area, which sits discreetly beneath the neckline ruffle and is not visible when worn. This has been reflected in the pricing. Presents beautifully overall.
