1960s/70s Cherry Red Shearling Coat with Sheepskin Trim

A striking vintage coat dating to the late 1960s to early 1970s, made by a Canadian brand based in Winnipeg. The coat is crafted from rich red suede and fully lined in warm, dense sheepskin, offering both structure and insulation. The natural shearling is carried through to the collar, front opening, cuffs and hem, creating a bold contrast against the deep red suede.

The silhouette is gently tailored through the body with a slightly flared line towards the hem, balancing warmth with a flattering shape. Practical patch pockets sit at the front, and the coat fastens cleanly at the centre front. This style reflects the enduring influence of shearling outerwear produced in Canada during this period, where craftsmanship and function were paramount due to climate.

The sheepskin remains soft and plush. There is some light, natural shedding at the cuffs, as is common with vintage shearling, but this does not affect wear or structure. A strong, characterful piece of cold-weather vintage with real presence.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. The leather on one of the cuffs has become dry due to age resulting in some breakage and shedding at one of the cuffs, which has been repaired and is not visible when wearing. Please see pictures. This has been considered when pricing. Other than this the coat is in excellent condition.

Additional fit notes:

The body of the coat is lined with a medium-weight synthetic teddy lining (acrylic/polyester), while the sleeves are lined in quilted satin. The teddy lining adds warmth and structure, meaning the coat fits slightly more snugly than the flat measurements suggest. No stretch.
