1960s–70s Embroidered Cotton Folk Peplum Blouse

A particularly beautiful 1960s–70s embroidered folk blouse, likely Eastern European, cut in a substantial textured white cotton or possibly a cotton-linen blend.

This one has such a lovely shape: gently fitted through the waist before flaring into a short peplum, with subtle puffed shoulders, short sleeves and a full button front. The embroidery is exceptional, with dense blue, green and rust-red floral bouquets framing the front, tiny scattered flower motifs across the body and sleeves, and embroidered edging following the neckline, front opening, cuffs and hem. The embroidery continues across the back, including a larger central floral motif.

Unlike the looser cheesecloth folk blouses, this has a much more structured, feminine silhouette and looks almost jacket-like worn buttoned up. Beautiful with high-waisted denim, skirts or trousers.
