1970s Ayesha Davar Tie-Up dress

A highly collectible 1970s dress by Ayesha Daval, known for her romantic, softly structured silhouettes and distinctive prints produced across London, Paris and Brussels.

This piece is crafted from an exceptionally soft, lightweight cotton in a rich deep purple tone, decorated with an intricate stylised floral print in soft blues, creams and warm earthy accents. The fabric has developed a beautiful lived-in softness over time, giving it that unmistakable worn-in, almost fluid drape.

The dress features a deep V neckline with fabric-covered buttons at the bust, creating a flattering, elongating line through the torso. The waist is gently gathered and can be shaped using the original self-tie belt, allowing the silhouette to shift from relaxed and voluminous to more defined and feminine.

The sleeves are a standout feature — wide, flowing and almost bell-shaped, falling to a soft mid-length and adding movement and drama to the piece. The back is softly gathered, enhancing the drape and allowing flexibility across sizes.

Despite being labelled a size 38, the cut allows for a wide range of fits depending on styling and bust.
