1970s Brown Suede Button-Up Penny Lane Coat with Opulent Sheepskin Collar

An impressive long suede coat dating from the late 1960s to early 1970s, crafted from rich brown suede that is exceptionally soft, supple and fluid to the touch. The coat is fully lined in a quilted acetate lining, providing warmth while maintaining a clean, wearable silhouette. Opulent sheepskin trims at the collar and cuffs lend the piece a luxurious, enveloping presence and strong visual impact.

The gently flared silhouette fastens at the front with silver press studs. Decorative silver buckle details appear at the front and back, a functional design feature characteristic of late 1960s and early 1970s outerwear. One buckle at the back is missing; the strap has been repaired and securely affixed. This condition is fully reflected in the price.

Stylistically, the coat sits between folk and bohemian influences and practical winter outerwear, reflecting the era’s fascination with natural materials, craftsmanship and understated drama. Condition

Good vintage condition with some issues which are reflected in the price, but nonetheless are not evident upon wear. The suede is soft and sturdy with only normal signs of wear. One decorative buckle at the back is missing; the strap has been repaired and secured. There is some splitting of the leather on the collar which has resulted in some shedding of the fur which is not at all apparent up on wear, fur is full and not patchy. The inside lining has one small hole, and the backing of the lining is peeling, which may effect warmth, but is invisible unless one actively searches. These details are only apparent when scrutanising the jacket and not when wearing, when wearing the oat looks to be in excellent condition. All details are nonetheless visible in the photographs and reflected in the price.
