1970s Cheesecloth and Crochet Maxidress

A beautifully cut 1970s bohemian cotton dress, inspired by earlier romantic and folkloric silhouettes, particularly the Mexican and Central American dresses that became highly sought-after within the European and American counterculture of the time.

Crafted from a softly crinkled cotton gauze (cheesecloth-like in texture), the fabric has a natural, slightly elastic quality that allows the dress to contour gently to the body while remaining breathable and comfortable. The construction is especially flattering — a deep V neckline framed with crochet lace, leading into a sculpted underbust panel and defined waist, before falling into a fluid, full skirt.

The contrasting brown inset panels at the waist and cuffs create a striking, almost corset-like visual effect, balancing the softness of the cream cotton with a more structured, graphic line.
