Antique Edwardian Beaded Evening Bag

A delicate Edwardian-era beaded evening bag, probably dating to the early 1900s. Finely worked in tiny glass beads with a floral garland motif in soft greens, lilac and warm coral tones, framed by an architectural geometric ground typical of the late Edwardian period. Finished with a metal kiss-lock frame and an original fine chain handle.

The bag is trimmed with a beautifully preserved beaded fringe, adding movement and elegance when worn. These bags were designed to be carried to formal evening events, theatres and balls, and were often paired with silk gowns, lace dresses or tailored evening coats. Despite its age, it feels surprisingly wearable and timeless — equally striking styled with an antique slip dress, a modern evening look, or as a collector’s piece.
