1930s Ditsy Floral Chiffon Dress with Smocked Yoke

An enchanting example of early 1930s daywear, this original semi-sheer silk chiffon dress features a delicate ditsy floral print in soft pinks, lavenders, yellows, and pale greens. These scattered miniature blossoms are set against a whisper-light background, lending the dress a charming air of romantic femininity.

The wide gathered yoke is richly smocked in coordinating threads, trimmed with a soft ruffle along the neckline. Full bishop sleeves gather into narrow cuffs, and the shape skims the body lightly with a gentle drape. There's a subtle bias cut through the skirt, especially at the back, which gives it elegant movement without clinging.

Snap fasteners at the side seam make it easy to slip on and off, in keeping with construction typical of the period. Care instructions:
Due to the age and delicacy of the fabric, dry clean only or very gentle hand wash in cool water with silk-safe detergent. Avoid wringing or twisting. Store folded or flat to protect the smocking.

Condition:
Very good vintage condition with minimal signs of wear. The fabric is soft and wearable with no brittleness. There is one very small mark on the bodice—possibly a tiny burn or heat mark—though it's well-camouflaged in the print and only visible upon close inspection. Some light irregularities in the smocking and gentle overall fading, consistent with age. Some shattering under the right arm has been repaired. Price reflects these very moderate flaws, which are not noticeable on wear.
