1930s Embroidered Hungarian Blouse

Beautifully preserved folk blouse with strong Hungarian and Eastern European influences, dating to the 1930s. This exceptional piece is made from a soft, slinky fabric with a fluid drape, most consistent with early rayon, a material widely used in the interwar period and prized for its silk-like movement and comfort.

The blouse is richly decorated with vibrant, fully intact embroidery across the chest and sleeves, featuring traditional floral and geometric motifs in saturated colours. The embroidery remains crisp and expressive, standing out beautifully against the softly draping ground fabric. The gathered neckline and gently bloused silhouette give the piece an effortless elegance while retaining its folkloric character.

The sleeves are softly voluminous and finished with embroidered cuffs, and the hemline features subtle gathering that allows the blouse to sit neatly at the waist or be worn loosely over denim. This is a rare example of a traditional-inspired blouse that feels entirely wearable today while retaining its historical integrity.

The blouse is in excellent vintage condition. There is one small repair to the back shoulder seam, which is discreet and not noticeable when worn.
