1960s–70s Embroidered Cotton Cheesecloth Peplum Blouse

A beautiful original late 1960s to early 1970s blouse in soft, textured 100% cotton cheesecloth, with wonderful folk-inspired embroidery in deep blue and bright coral pink.

The silhouette is particularly lovely: a fitted bodice with a wide square neckline, long voluminous sleeves and a softly gathered peplum that flares from the waist. The front is finished with an extraordinary row of tiny pearlescent buttons running from the neckline through the peplum.

Intricate floral embroidery frames the square neckline and forms two statement panels down the front, with coordinating embroidery at the cuffs. The combination of airy ivory cotton, saturated embroidery and dramatic sleeves gives it that wonderful late-60s/early-70s romantic folk feel.

An incredibly versatile piece that can be worn throughout the year — buttoned as a blouse, partially unbuttoned for a more relaxed look, or worn open and layered over a camisole, dress or fine knit.

The original label states 100% cotton and vintage size L. As always with vintage sizing, please disregard the label size and refer to the actual measurements below.

Excellent vintage condition.

Remarkably well preserved for a piece approximately 50–60 years old. There are no noted stains, holes or tears, just normal minimal signs of age and previous wear.
