Late 1960s Floral Cotton Hot Pants / Beach Shorts

These vibrant floral shorts likely date to the 1960s and may even be from the late 1950s, originally intended as beachwear. The vivid cotton fabric has a slightly slubby, woven texture—reminiscent of linen—and is finished with a sturdy side metal zipper, characteristic of earlier mid-century construction.

Cut high on the waist with a flattering curve at the rear, they hug the hips and flare subtly over the upper thigh. While they wear like true hot pants on our 176 cm model, they would sit longer on most wearers—these weren’t necessarily originally intended to be scandalously short, just stylish and sun-ready.

Styling notes: Pair with a vintage bikini top or bandeau and oversized sunglasses for a retro beach look, or style them with a crisp white blouse, basket bag, and espadrilles for city wear. They also look fantastic with lace-trimmed prairie tops and platform boots for a playful festival vibe.
