Rare 1970s Penny Lane Sheepskin Coat – Three-Colour Suede with Plush Shearling Trim

An exceptional and highly unusual 1970s Penny Lane / Afghan-style sheepskin coat, executed in a striking three-colour suede patchwork with plush natural sheepskin trim. This shorter, princess-cut silhouette is a rarer variation of the classic Penny Lane coat, offering a sculpted yet relaxed shape that feels both wearable and collectible.

The coat features smooth suede panels in warm, earthy tones, framed with dense, creamy sheepskin trim at the collar, front edges, cuffs and hem. The interior is lined in short, plush sheepskin rather than long fleece, giving excellent warmth without excessive bulk. The result is a coat that feels cosy, substantial and extremely comfortable to wear.

This piece is particularly notable for its colour-block construction, which is far less commonly seen than single-tone examples, and for its beautifully balanced proportions. It has pockets, a soft natural drape, and a gently shaped body that skims rather than clings.

Condition is excellent vintage condition overall. The sheepskin remains full, soft and clean, with no shedding. There are moderate, honest signs of wear to the suede consistent with age, which only add to the character of the piece. No structural issues.

Fit & sizing 
Best suited to a modern EU 36–40 depending on desired fit. Internationally this corresponds roughly to Small–Medium, and can also work for a Medium/Large worn more fitted. On a size EU 36 / Small it wears comfortably oversized with room for thicker knitwear. On a size EU 38 / Medium it offers a classic Penny Lane fit. It can also work well on a size EU 40 / Medium–Large for a more streamlined silhouette. Please note the sheepskin lining adds warmth and structure, so allowing a few centimetres of ease against your own measurements is recommended.

The model is 173 cm tall and usually wears a size EU 38.
