A rare deadstock treasure from the 1970s, this Indian cotton gauze dress was discovered in the storage of a long-closed shop, where it remained unworn for decades. It is double-layered: the outer printed skirt sits over a longer colour-block blue underskirt, creating a striking layered effect that moves beautifully when worn. Buttoning up the front, the dress features a flattering empire line cut with long, sheer sleeves and a softly flowing skirt.

The all-over print recalls the curving lines and botanical motifs of Art Nouveau, reinterpreted through the free-spirited lens of the 1970s. Indian export dresses like this were beloved for their artistry and lightness, bridging handcraft tradition with the decade’s bohemian style.
