A beautiful 1970s folk-style cotton caftan dress in a softly faded charcoal black, richly embroidered with vibrant cotton thread across the yoke and sleeves.
Originally likely a deep black, the cotton has aged into a soft charcoal tone with gentle fading that adds depth and character. The embroidery is done in matte cotton thread in bold floral and tulip motifs — red, yellow, orange, green, white and turquoise — stitched densely across the chest panel and echoed along the sleeves.
The silhouette is classic caftan — straight and elongated with side slits and softly flared sleeves. It falls cleanly from the shoulders without waist shaping, making it an effortless layering piece.
Beautiful styled with boots and a turtleneck in early spring, worn loose at the beach in summer, or layered over denim.
Condition
Very good vintage condition.
No holes or tears.
Gentle age-related fading to the cotton and light fold marks consistent with wear. The soft fading enhances the patina.
