1970s Handwoven Halterneck Maxi Summer Dress with Macramé Fringe Waist Detail

An absolutely extraordinary 1970s halterneck dress in the most vibrant tropical palette of emerald green, hot pink, and chartreuse yellow, crafted from a textured cotton towelling-style weave that gives the piece incredible depth and movement.

The silhouette is pure late 60s to early 70s resort glamour — plunging halterneck bodice, open back, dramatic chevron stripe placement, and an incredible hand-knotted macramé midriff panel adorned with long fringe and tiny bead accents. The macramé section ties at the back and is very much a focal feature of the dress rather than simply functional, creating a beautifully sculptural effect from every angle.

The waist section features adjustable drawstring ties beneath the macramé panel which can be tightened or loosened, allowing for additional flexibility in fit and shaping through the midriff and underbust area.

The woven stripe placement is especially striking, forming strong graphic lines that elongate the body while still feeling playful and distinctly bohemian. The fabric has a softly textured almost towelling-like handfeel typical of some Mediterranean and resortwear textiles of the era.

Very good  vintage condition with general age-appropriate wear. Some small irregularities and slubs to the woven fabric are present, typical of the textile and period. The macramé fringe has some natural unevenness and softness from age which only adds to its character. No major flaws noted.
