1970s Lipstick-Red Leather Light Coat with Plush Trim

A truly magnificent and rare piece. These Afghan / Penny Lane–style coats are already cult favourites — but finding one in smooth leather and this extraordinary lipstick-red colour is exceptionally unusual.

All indications are that this is real leather: it was sold to me as leather, the grain looks and feels like leather, and the construction supports that assessment. As there is no material label (and no sign there ever was one), it is priced accordingly and transparently.

Soft plush trim at collar, cuffs and hem. Lined in smooth acetate — not a heavy winter coat, more of a statement outer layer. Two elastic loops are sewn inside the front; a long wool tie is included to feed through the loops for optional closure.

Lightweight. High impact. The kind of coat that turns heads everywhere.
