1970s Psychedelic Crushed Velvet Maxi Dress – Pink, Turquoise & Brown

A wonderfully wearable 1970s crushed velvet maxi dress in an incredible psychedelic palette of vivid fuchsia pink, turquoise blue, chocolate brown and black.

 Cut in a long, streamlined silhouette with a softly squared neckline and long sleeves, the simplicity of the shape lets the extraordinary print do all the work. The velvet has a beautifully rich, tactile surface and a little stretch, though it is substantially heavier and less elastic than later stretch velvets.

 The oversized swirling paisley and floral motifs give it a distinctly late-60s/70s psychedelic feel. Worn simply, it has an elegant, almost column-like silhouette; belted low on the hips, as photographed, it takes on a completely different bohemian, medieval-revival feel. An exceptionally easy piece of vintage to style — dramatic without requiring much effort.

 Fabric content is unmarked/unknown; likely a viscose-blend velvet.  

Condition

 Excellent vintage condition with no notable flaws. The velvet remains soft and vibrant. Normal minimal signs of age may be present.
