1970s Pure Wool Cardigan

A beautiful and distinctly 1970s Alpine-style cardigan in rich royal blue, crafted from 100% lamb’s wool.

This piece has that unmistakable Austrian / Tyrolean folk revival feel — structured through the bodice with a gently fitted shape and dramatically full puffed sleeves that taper into detailed cuffs. The silhouette almost mimics a traditional dirndl bodice, giving it a romantic, folkloric elegance.

The front features raised diamond panel detailing adorned with delicate embroidered cream flowers, mirrored at the back with a vertical diamond motif. Silver-toned buttons (painted plastic) run down the front, adding a charming vintage touch.

The wool is thick, warm and substantial, while still retaining natural stretch.

Condition

Very good vintage condition. No holes or structural flaws. Minimal pilling consistent with age. Some light scratching / wear to the silver paint on the buttons, purely cosmetic and typical for the era.
