1970s Sterling Silver Snake Coil Ring

A striking and sculptural vintage snake ring from the 1970s, designed as a bold coiled serpent that wraps dramatically around the finger. This is a true statement piece, with strong presence and beautifully engraved detail throughout the snake’s body and head.

The ring is made in a coiled construction which allows for some adjustability, however the silver itself is firm and substantial, not soft or flimsy. The size can be adjusted carefully by gently opening or tightening the coil, but it will not naturally flex to fit all sizes. When worn, the snake coils up most of the finger, creating a powerful, elongated silhouette rather than sitting as a standard band.

There is a very small, faint internal stamp which appears to read SterLING. While worn and difficult to read, the material, weight, colour and patina are entirely consistent with sterling silver. The ring has not been polished in order to preserve its original surface and age-earned patina, but it could be polished if a brighter finish is preferred.

The coiled construction allows for some size adjustment, however the silver is quite hard and holds its shape. Adjustments should be made carefully. The ring coils up much of the finger and does not sit as a traditional circular band.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition. Due to the adjustable nature of the design, the ring is not perfectly round, but this is inherent to the construction. No damage, cracks, or losses. Beautiful overall condition.
