Late 1940s / Early 1950s Austrian Beaded Wool Cardigan with Batwing Sleeves

An exceptional late 1940s to early 1950s fine wool cardigan, made in Austria and labelled Elsye Strickmoden, Vienna I. This beautifully constructed piece is knitted from a very fine, lightweight wool that strongly resembles merino in handle and softness, with a smooth, breathable feel and no synthetic touch. The cardigan features a softly structured batwing cut through the body, tapering into a wide ribbed waistband that creates a gently bloused silhouette when worn. The front is richly decorated with delicate floral beadwork and embroidery in soft ivory, champagne and silvery tones, arranged symmetrically along the button placket. Finished with small metal buttons and ribbed cuffs and waistband, this is a refined yet wearable piece that bridges late 1940s elegance and early 1950s femininity. The condition is excellent for its age, with only the faintest signs of wear and minimal pilling, no holes and no structural issues.
