RESERVED FOR MELANIE An exceptional Eastern European folk blouse, most likely Romanian in origin and dating to the late 1930s–1940s. The blouse is crafted from a softly woven cotton with a light yet slightly substantial hand, giving it a beautiful drape while still feeling robust and well made. It is richly decorated with traditional vertical embroidery panels worked primarily in deep black and red, accented with subtle metallic gold threads and small hand-applied sequins that catch the light gently and add depth and refinement without overpowering the design. The cut is generous and fluid, with gathered volume through the body and sleeves, finished with a finely worked neckline and original ties. The embroidery placement, motifs, and construction are characteristic of Romanian and broader Balkan folk dress of the interwar period, where symbolic patterning and metallic accents reflected regional identity and skilled handwork. 

Despite its age, the blouse remains in excellent vintage condition, with the embroidery and sequins fully intact and no structural issues. Some discolouration on the back of the blouse which is barely visible and not noticeable when wearing. A rare and highly wearable survivor, and a true forever piece, equally striking styled simply with vintage denim and clogs or layered under a Penny Lane coat or chunky knit in cooler months.
