1960s Levantine Long Embroidered Dress

Description
A striking example of traditional Levantine embroidery, this long black cotton thobe features dense cross-stitch embroidery in vivid shades of crimson, magenta, and orange, with small green accents along the shoulders and sleeves. The geometric motifs — stylised tree and amulet forms — are characteristic of dresses made across the greater Jordan–Palestine region during the late 1960s to 1970s, a time when traditional needlework met modern materials and patterns.
Entirely hand-stitched, this piece bears the subtle irregularities of genuine craftsmanship: small variations in thread tension, hand-finished seams, and faint signs of wear from age and use. The flowing cut and deep side panels allow for graceful movement, while the richly embroidered cuffs and borders add sculptural texture and warmth.
Styling
Worn loose as a dress or layered over denim and boots for a striking modern contrast. Also beautiful displayed as a textile or collector’s piece.
