Description

An exceptional and extremely rare vintage jacket, crafted from beautifully curly, two-tone Tibetan lamb fur in soft cream and deep chocolate brown. The striking placement of the darker panels creates an almost butterfly-like effect across the body, giving this piece a sculptural, art-object quality that is rarely seen. This is not a typical fur jacket, but a highly expressive, collectible example from the golden era of statement outerwear.

Tibetan lamb became especially popular in the late 1960s and 1970s, prized for its long, lightweight, glossy curls and dramatic movement. Unlike heavier furs, it offers volume without weight, making it both visually impactful and surprisingly wearable. Pieces of this calibre — with such intentional colour placement and bold proportions — are increasingly difficult to find.

The jacket features a generous collar, oversized statement sleeves, and a beautifully considered hemline that dips lower at the front than the back, enhancing the fluid silhouette and elongating the body. It fastens with three discreet hook-and-eye closures at the front and can be worn open or gently closed. The jacket is unlined, which allows the fur to drape naturally and move freely; this also means the fit is more flexible and moulds subtly to the wearer rather than sitting rigidly.

Despite its volume, the jacket feels light and fluid when worn. The fur is wonderfully soft, supple, and glossy to the touch, with natural movement and texture that catches the light beautifully. A truly special piece that sits somewhere between garment and artwork — made for collectors, stylists, and those who dress with intention.

Measurements

Pit to pit: 47 cm / 18.5 in
Waist: 37.5 cm / 14.8 in
Bottom opening: 34 cm / 13.4 in
Shoulders: 41 cm / 16.1 in
Sleeve length: 56 cm / 22 in
Total length: 52 cm / 20.5 in

Please note that the jacket is unlined and made from structured suede with very little natural give. Although the measurements may look generous, it’s best suited to body measurements a few centimetres smaller so it slips on comfortably, especially through the shoulders and arms. I’d recommend it for an XS to S fit. (DE 34-36, UK 6-8, US 2-4)

(Please compare measurements carefully. Note that the unlined construction allows for a more flexible fit.)

Condition
Excellent vintage condition, with light signs of wear consistent with age. The fur remains very soft, glossy, and full of life. There is some very light, natural matting in small areas, typical for Tibetan lamb of this age. Overall, the jacket presents beautifully and is in excellent wearable condition for a vintage fur piece.
