Vintage 1970s "Made in India" Cotton Gauze Dress

An exquisite late-1970s Indian block-printed cotton dress in rich shades of deep red, rose, and soft brown. The hand-printed floral boteh motif recalls traditional Ajrakh and Rajasthan printing styles, while the contrasting quilted yoke in crimson adds depth and texture. This piece was made during the period when Indian artisans collaborated with small Western boutiques and export houses, producing unique, hand-finished garments that bridged folk craft and global fashion.

The cotton is beautifully soft and lived-in, with that supple hand that only decades of gentle wear can bring. Slightly A-line with full sleeves gathered at the wrist and a softly pleated skirt for graceful movement.

Styling
Wear loose over jeans or layered with a Penny Lane coat for an authentic late-70s look. Equally lovely belted for shape.

Very good vintage condition. Cotton beautifully worn-in and soft. Small repaired hole on skirt area (reflected in price).
